County of Los Angeles Public Library
Rights of the Child

Every child has the right to be accepted as an individual and to receive help in becoming the person she/he wishes to be.

The County of Los Angeles Public Library serves the child from infancy to adulthood by providing access to total library services. Responsive, professionally educated children's librarians foster the enjoyment of reading and use of library resources.

We remind parents that the library staff cannot assume responsibility for unattended children.

We encourage adults and children to explore the library together and to get to know their local library staff. We hope using the library will become an enjoyable lifelong habit.
