History
The Baldwin Park Library was founded on February 27, 1914. It has been at its present location since June 20, 1969. The Friends of the Library was formed in 1982. This group continues to be active and gives the library volunteers and monetary support. The library's Literacy Center was formed in 1983. Currently the center offers basic literacy skills, families for literacy, English as a second language and Spanish literacy.

Collection
The library houses approximately 123,251 books and other printed materials. In addition, it houses an audiovisual collection of approximately 10,700 items. These collections provide videorecordings, talking books, large print books, current magazines and newspapers and a reference collection. The collection provides material for children and adults, and material in other languages.

Services
The library provides basic reference service, readers' advisory and children's programs (including class visits to the library). The library provides after-school homework help at its Homework Center. It also supports adult basic literacy and English as a second language at its Literacy Center.

Other services include Internet workstations, coin-operated typewriters and copier, and a meeting room with a seating capacity of 57 that the public may rent.

Facilities
The library, with an area of 15,320 square feet, features the following areas; an adult section, a children's section, a periodicals section, and a section for materials in other languages.
