History
The library was founded in 1915 and moved to its present site in 1967. The
Friends of the Library was founded in 1967.
A historical mural was painted in 1984. The library recently underwent a total refurbishment.
Collection
The library has over 104,806 books, 4,239 video recordings and 4,293
audio recordings. The library also carries 40 current magazine and
newspaper subscriptions. The material collection includes book and
non-book items in English, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Spanish.
Services
Services available to our customers include public access Internet computers, online
library catalogs that provide access to the entire County Public Library
collection and to online databases, a coin-operated typewriter, photocopier, and a public meeting room. The library also provides
information and readers' advisory
services, pre-school and toddler storytimes every Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m.,
a family storytime every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., a Homework Center, and a summer reading program for kids under 16. The Library also features a Family Place for toddlers and parents.
Facilities
The library is a two-story building with 12,000 square feet. The upper
level is the meeting room for public use with the capacity of about 100.
