History
The Library founded in 1940 serves the View Park-Windsor Hills residents of
the unincorporated area west of the City of Los Angeles north of the City of
Inglewood and southeast of the City of Culver City.
Library service was provided through a leased facility of 2,300 square feet,
located at 5400 S. Harcourt Avenue at 54th Street. The library moved to its
present location in 1977 and offers a full range of library services.
Collection
The current collection contains 71,200 books, including large print materials,
68 magazine and newspaper subscriptions, 2,998 audiocassettes, 5,131
videocassettes, pamphlets large print materials and an extensive collection
relating to the African American experience.
Services
The library offers reference and children's services, online library catalogs that provide access to the entire County Library collection and to online databases which include full-text magazine and newspaper articles in addition to public access internet computers, WiFi and a coin-operated photocopier. Also available are programs for children, teens and adults and a Homework Center with computers to support the educational needs of students in the local community.
Facilities
The library has 7,500 square feet on one floor. Handicapped parking spaces
are provided and there is parking adjacent to the building. A public telephone
is available for use in the lobby.
