History
The West Hollywood Library began service to the area (then unincorporated )
in 1913. The present library was dedicated in 1960. The library was previously
located at Sherman School, a cottage on Clark Street, a building on Westbourne
Drive, and a building near the present site.The Library has an active
Friends of the Library group.
Collection
The West Hollywood Library collection includes over 95,310 books; 45 magazine
and newspaper subscriptions, over 18,000 audiovisual titles. Special materials
include local history materials, Spanish and Russian books, the
Ron Shipton HIV Information Center,
and a Gay and Lesbian materials collection.
Services
The library offers Reference Services, Reader's
Advisory, children's programs, online library catalogs that provide access
to the County Library collection and to online reference database subscriptions,
public access Internet computers and coin-operated photocopier.
Facilities
This 5,170 square-foot building is located in the West Hollywood Park. There
is ADA compliant parking available.
