Whittier Unincorporated Heritage Project
Digital Collection
The Whittier Unincorporated Heritage Project Digital Collection is a result of the collaboration between the LA County Library, the Los Angeles County CEO’s Office of Unincorporated Area Services, and the Office of Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe. Most images in the collection were provided by community residents over the course of two months in the summer of 2016 and represent the rich culture and history of Unincorporated Whittier.

We invite you to contribute historical images of unincorporated parts of Whittier to the library’s online collection. We are interested in photographs of daily life, family celebrations and community events, landmarks and buildings, and other photos of the area’s history.
You can also share your memories of the area via one of the personal history forms provided by the CEO’s Office of Unincorporated Area Services. Complete a General Form and/or a Veterans’ history form and return it to Los Nietos Library, Sorensen Library, or South Whittier Library, to share your memories of Unincorporated Whittier with the rest of the community.
For questions about these forms, please contact digitalprojects@library.lacounty.gov.
